What started in the 70s as an ice cream parlor has become a diner and a staple in the Bangor community. Nicky's Cruisin' Diner continues to serve delicious food to this day, but not too many people know that this is where Maine native Howie Day kind of got his start!

In 1987, Howie's parents bought the ice cream parlor and turned it into the diner, according to the diner's website. His mother bought Howie a piano when he was 5, and he would play it in the diner as you can see in this commercial from the 90s.

And as they say, the rest is history...
