A teenage boy faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of a husband and wife in Winthrop, according to media reports.

State police say Antonio and Alice Balcer were killed inside their Pine Knoll Road home early Monday morning.

The couple lived in the home with their two sons.

WGME is reporting that a Winthrop teen has been charged with killing the couple, but they aren't releasing any additional details about the suspect.

Neighbor Melissa Shannon said she and her family were sleeping when their doorbell started ringing at about 2 a.m.

"A lady was outside screaming outside the door asking for help,” Shannon said. "She said someone had a gun and she was afraid for her life."

Police say the teen was transported to the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland and is due in court Tuesday afternoon.
