Thanksgiving misconceptions

When we think of the Pilgrims Thanksgiving, we have been fed images of men with black clothes and hats with buckles on them and tables of food with turkeys, corn, potatoes, cranberries and such. Wrong. The buckled had look came decades after the first Thanksgiving. As for foods.. potatoes had not yet been introduced here. The only corn, called Indian corn was only good for grinding into cornmeal. And the big lie.. Turkeys were not the big item on the menu. Fish and seafoods like cod, bass, eel, clams and mussels were plentiful in coastal New England.
