During the show today I asked, "What album embarrassed you in front of your parents?"  We got some great responses!

One caller from Brewer agreed with me that "We're An American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad created a surprise when opened in front of one's parents!  The album came in a plain brown wrapper, and when opened fully featured the entire band, nude.  Mom didn't like that.  At least I don't think that she did.

One guy from Sullivan called and reminded me that we all had an album with very young naked girls on the cover, which pretty much would qualify as kiddie porn now-a-days.  Yup, Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" didn't do us any favors with mom.

A girl from Ellsworth called and said that the Nazareth album "Hair Of The Dog" didn't go over well with her father, who was a minister.  One day when he came home and caught her singing the line from the title track, of course the most popular lyric was "now you're messing with a son of a bitch."  Apparently some sins needed to be repented after that!

An album by a guy named Alice Cooper always went over well when ones parents were part of "the greatest generation."  That was hard enough to explain, but then a fellow from West Enfield called to remind me that when you opened the album a pair of pink panties fell out.  Apparently this happened to this guy when he was driving home with mom from the department store.  He was mentally scarred for life.

An I-95 listener from Orono reminded me of the cover of Edgar Winter's "They Only Come Out At Night."  Yes, you didn't want mom to see the cover of that album.  We kept it under the bed, and only broke it out at night.
