The Maine Department of Transportation is keeping everyone updated as to what's going on within the 4.8 mile route of construction on Route 3.  Here is what's happening this week:

- The contractor will continue placing water line from Sand Point Road towards Old Bar Harbor Road.

- The utility companies will continue conducting telephone pole work from Wild Wood Way towards Crooked Road and from Old Bar Harbor Road towards Sand Point Road. This work includes setting new poles and running wires.

- The utility companies will continue working on the traffic signal at the Eagle Lake Road intersection as well as at the intersection of routes 102/198/3 in Somesville.

- The contractor will continue working on new drainage pipes in Somesville at the intersection of routes 102/198/3.

Of course, all work within the zone is  weather dependent.

The two and a half year, $17.9 million project, spans from a point 0.57 miles west of Sand Point Road to the intersection of Route 3/Eden Street and Route 233 in Bar Harbor. The work will continue year round until the Spring of 2019.
