The Cat Returning To Maine Waters

Does this sound familiar?  Once again, The Cat will be ferrying passengers across the Gulf Of Maine to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.

Last night in Portland, city councilors struck a deal with Bay Ferries Ltd. to have The Cat resume service between that city and Yarmouth beginning on June 15th and lasting until October 15th.  The deal is for the next two seasons.

If you remember, it was just over six years ago that The Cat ferried vacationers between Bar Harbor and Yarmouth.  The Cat terminal on Route 3 on MDI now sits vacant.  This catamaran will be a little different from it's predecessor as the company's website says that it "has a higher "tunnel clearance" and performs differently in certain sea conditions."

The journey aboard The Cat between Portland and Yarmouth will average about 5 and a half hours, and the vessel can carry up to 866 passengers.  The Cat features a movie lounge, a kid's play area, food service and a gift shop.  It will depart Portland at 2:30 p.m. and then at 8:30 a.m. from Nova Scotia the following day.

A passport or other proper international travel documents are required to travel to Nova Scotia. Round trip adult tickets will average around $194.
