Kids and their families from all over Maine will congregate at the Windsor Fairgrounds this weekend to learn about agriculture during the Northeast Livestock Expo!

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry reports that more than twenty busloads of students will be there today for "Kid's Day!"

A press release from the Department says, "Students will experience first-hand, thirty-four agricultural presentations put on by farmers and industry volunteers. This three-day livestock event will showcase beef and dairy cattle, sheep, goats, rabbits and many science-related activities."

Kids will also get the chance to learn about raising Draft horses, oxen, poultry, insects on the farm, what animals eat, tractors, sea farming in Maine, compost, bees, and many other things too!

The Maine State Police will be there with several K9 demonstrations!

The general public is welcome too and there is no admission charge.  A full schedule can be found at the Northeast Livestock Expo's website.  The Windsor Fairgrounds are located at 82 Ridge Road in Windsor.

“This is a great opportunity for kids to learn about Maine agriculture,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “This and other Maine agricultural events this summer and fall highlight the connection between local farms, local products and consumers.”
