Hebron’s third annual Redneck Blank Pig Roast and Music Festival kicks off today!

The local event has exploded in popularity over the years, especially after all the press. The Redneck Blank grabbed world wide attention after the Olympics Committee ordered event organizer Harold Brooks to change the name from the Redneck Olympics.

Last year the Comedy Central show 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' showed up to provide coverage of the event. This year it's rumored that the History channel will be filming the event.

The Redneck Blank features Olympic style events such as toilet-seat horseshoes, bobbing for pigs feet, tire beer trot and a greased watermelon haul. Also apart of the fun, a pig roast, live music and free camping.

Musical acts include Skosh, Cold Blue Steel, Firewater Creek, Veggies by Day, the Boston AC/DC cover band Back in Black, Unchartered and the Mallett Brothers Band.

The Redneck Blank also plans on donating funds to many Maine charities including Wounded Heroes Program of Maine, Camp Sunshine, Shriners Children’s Hospital, Androscoggin Humane Society, The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope & Healing, Bikers against Bullying and the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

The Redneck Blank runs Thursday through Saturday.
