This Maine Town Was The Coldest Place In The Contiguous United States Today

Congrats Presque Isle, you where wicked cold this morning. The National Weather Service says the temperature dipped to -21 degrees!

In the contiguous United States Presque Isle was lowest temperature recorded, while the hot spot was Fort Myers, Florida at 91 degrees.

The coldest temperature reading in Maine was recorded on January 16, 2009. About four miles from the Canadian boarder a weather station in Big Black River (not actually in the river) recorded a temperature of -50 degrees!

The previous record was set in Van Buren in 1925 at -48 degrees.
