Thistle's Restaurant, a fixture on Exchange Street in downtown Bangor for more than 17 years, has temporarily closed.

The closure comes amid a Sunday "retirement sale," in which the restaurant sold items including furniture and kitchen equipment.

Santiago Rave, the owner and general manager of the restaurant, said his father, Alejandro, was retiring from the business. There's no word yet on the duration of the closure or future plans for the space.

The restaurant opened in 1999.
