Three people are facing felony charges in connection with the trafficking of heroin. A search warrant turned up thousands of dollars in cash and drugs.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the search on Thursday afternoon inside an apartment  at 51 Washington Street in Augusta. The warrant was the result of the purchase of heroin from people living at the address.

Seized during the search was approximately 12 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of $4,500, a handgun, $2,000 in cash, and other evidence of drug trafficking.

The following people were charged as part of this investigation:

  • Katelyn Nicole Dillingham, age 19 of Augusta, is charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (heroin). Her bail is set at $1,000 cash.
  • Robert Louis Desjardins, age 23 of Augusta, is charged with Class B Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (heroin). His bail is set at $10,000 cash.
  • Baron Joseph Thompson, age 37 of Augusta, is charged with Class C Possession of heroin. Bail is set at $1,000 cash.

All three were taken to the Kennebec County jail for booking following their arrests. Two children, ages 1 and 2, who were in the home at the time of the search were placed in protective custody of DHHS personnel.
