Have a tendency to lose your keys? Great new in the future for you, unless your thumbs fall off the ‘Ola’ is your answer. Smart locks have long promised to replace your keys with your phone, but the latest model takes this a step further. “Ola” is the first door handle with a built-in fingerprint scanner that opens simply by recognizing your thumbprint, no phone needed. It can also store the prints of friends and friends. How cool is that.

According to the company brochure the lock can be opened more than 30,000 times before its four AA batteries need replacing. The designers claim this is equivalent to two years of normal use. A back up plan exists of course, if the batteries do run out unexpectedly, there is a backup AAA battery pack that can be activated at the press of a button to keep a person's home secure. Not too long to wait, the battery-powered Ola lock is set to go on sale for $179 in May of next year.
