I want to take you higher
Baby… (Sly & the Family Stone)

Take a little trip up the old winding wooden stairwell and check out a spectacular panoramic view of Bangor and Brewer!

The Thomas Hill Standpipe on Jackson Street in Bangor will open for tours this Wednesday, July 25th, between 4 and 8 p.m.  There is NO CHARGE!

The old Standpipe, built back in 1897 holds 1.75 million gallons of water that is drawn from Flood's Pond in Otis, and the building that houses the actual water tank is 110 feet high.  The Bangor Water District features these tours four times a year.

It's worth the trip up to see, although if you tire easily or have a hard time with stairs you may want to stay on the ground  Check out this VIDEO that we took a few winters ago!
