We've been hearing this story a lot lately, as police and fire departments struggle to find employees and those others that are well trained and willing to volunteer their services.

We were sad to learn via Facebook that the downeast town of Sorrento, one of the more beautiful places in the state, will be ending 24/7 responses to medical calls due to the lack of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).  The town is in a quandary, with no real solution other than to pass along those medical calls to the "nearest" ambulance service.

To the year-round residents, the hard-working folks that fish and work from the end of the peninsula, and the older summer people that will arriving soon, this has got to be a a big concern.

We wish the town luck in solving this problem.
