Police have made two arrests in connection with a pair of pharmacy robberies. One was unsuccessful, but in the other the robber got away with some drugs. Both were very similar, at different Rite Aids, within 15 minutes of each other.

Augusta Police said in a press release that the first call came in at around 5:40 p.m. on September 2nd of an attempted robbery at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on North Belfast Avenue. Witnesses reported a man entered the store, walked to the pharmacy, and demanded prescription medication through a threatening note. No weapons were displayed during the robbery. Seconds later, the male suspect fled before taking any drugs.

It was about fifteen minutes later when a call came into the Augusta Police Department of another robbery, this time at the Rite Aid on Hospital Street. Witness descriptions were very similar to the first attempted robbery. This time, however, the suspect did get away with an undisclosed amount of prescription medication.

An investigation by patrol officers and detectives from Augusta, along with agents from the FBI, resulted in the arrest of Dominic Pomerleau, 21 of Augusta, who was taken into the custody early the next morning. Pomerleau was held on a probation hold while the detailed investigation into both pharmacy robberies was completed.

On Wednesday, Pomerleau and Lance Szady, 28 of Augusta, were formally charged with Robbery in Bangor Federal Court for their connection to both crimes.
