The State Fire Marshal's office says fires in two apartment buildings were intentionally set. Five people were displaced but no injuries were reported.

The residences at 203 and 205 Union Street sit right next to each other, across the street from Rite Aid. Fire crews started battling a fire in one building and then learned they had a fire in the second. The buildings sit very close to each other however officials say the fires were both intentionally set, rather than one fire having spread to the other residence.

The buildings were not a total loss, and fire officials are working to help get the damage repaired and the tenants back into their homes. The State Fire Marshal's office is working to determine how the fires were started but they have already ruled it a case of arson.

Anyone with any information about the fire is asked to call the Bangor Fire Department at 942-7384.
