A vehicle malfunction caused a head-on collision on Route 1A this afternoon, closing the road in both directions. One person was injured in the crash.

Route 1A in Holden was closed to traffic in both directions near the town office for about an  hour while first responders dealt with a head-on collision. WABI-TV reports a vehicle malfunction caused an SUV to shift into the opposite lane and hit a pickup truck head-on.  Police say the driver of the SUV, 29-year-old Richard Burrell of Bangor, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the truck, 41-year-old Tobin Peacock of Lamoine, had minor injuries.
