Two People in Custody After Stabbing [UPDATE]

State Police continue to investigate an altercation in Sullivan that left two people with stab wounds. Two people, including one of the injured parties, are now facing charges.

Department of Public Safety Spokesman Steve McCausland says Troopers responded to a call on the Asheville Road in Sullivan today to the report of an altercation that left two people injured with stab wounds. As a result, two people were arrested.

William Gatcomb, 44 of Sullivan was found walking on the Morancy Road and was charged with Assault. In addition, Gatcomb was taken to Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for injuries he received during the altercation. He was then taken to Hancock County Jail.

Also arrested was Rachel Dwyer, 41 of Sullivan. She was located by a K-9 hiding behind a shed on the same road and was charged with Aggravated Assault. She was also taken to the Hancock County Jail.

There’s no word on the identity of the other victim, but police say none of the injuries were life-threatening. Only one of the victims was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Troopers were assisted by Gouldsboro Police, Maine Drug Enforcement Agents, and the Fire Marshal’s Office. The investigation is continuing as police try to figure out what lead up to the assault.
