Police say speed and driver inexperience contributed to a Friday night crash that sent two teenagers to the hospital.

The 16-year-old driver lost control of the westbound 2009 Toyota on a bridge in the Aroostook County town of Oakfield and struck a guard rail on the opposite side of the road.

The driver did not have a valid driver's license but did possess a valid operator’s permit. There was not a licensed driver in the car.

The driver and a 15-year-old passenger were taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not life threatening, according to the police report.
