It has been 10 years since the UMaine women's basketball team could call themselves America East regular season champs. Now they can after a 61-41 win over UMBC.Not only does the win clinch at least a share of the regular season title, it also clinches the number one seed for the upcoming America East tournament and extends their winning streak to 14 games.

Liz Wood led the Bears with another triple-double scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while Sigi Koizar threw in 15 points. Maine jumped out to a commanding first half lead taking a 30-13 score into the locker room at halftime and never looked back as they improved their record to 22-6 overall and 14-1 in the conference. Defense has been the key to their streak as they have now held their opponents to 60 or fewer points in their last 17 games.

The Bears can lock up sole possession of first place with a win Sunday at New Hampshire in their regular season finale, or a loss by Albany.
