The beautiful Union River winds its way through the City of Ellsworth, eagles and osprey soar overhead, folks run and walk beside it, and boaters, kayakers and canoeists that have departed Harbor Park paddle it's waters.  Soon there will be another place for paddlers to stop along its banks for a tasty rest.

The owners of the popular Union River Lobster Pot on South Street now have a building permit to construct a  480 foot dock in front of the restaurant!  If all goes smoothly, folks paddling up the Union River will be able to dock there this coming summer.

Owner Brian Langley said on the business' website that  the dock "will allow for smaller boats (kayaks, canoes and possibly inflatables) to land.”  He also mentions that people “have expressed interest in landing at the restaurant to eat.”
