Alicia Silverstone reuniting with her ‘Clueless’ director, Amy Heckerling, for a cheeky vampire comedy should be generating a fair amount of buzz. Perhaps now that the first official trailer for ‘Vamps’ has arrived online, people will begin talking the film up and anticipating its inevitable release?

As you can see in the clip below, Silverstone and Krysten Ritter (‘Don’t Trust the B--- in Apartment 23’) play centuries-old vampires on the hunt for love in modern-day Manhattan. It’s ‘Clueless’ mixed with ‘True Blood,’ or a dash of ‘Twilight’ … if you can imagine that.

I’ll have to admit, I like the “Van Helsing” twist that Heckerling’s screenplay has up its sleeve, and the casting of Wallace Shawn (‘The Princess Bride’) in the role of an elder vamp hunter could make for an interesting turn of events. Also, Heckerling has peppered her cast with tremendous supporting talents, from Sigourney Weaver and Malcolm McDowell to Richard Lewis and Kristen Johnston.

Here’s the strange part: ‘Vamps’ will be on select digital platforms on Oct. 19, in select theaters on Nov. 2, and then on Blu-ray and DVD on Nov. 13. The future of independent releasing, apparently.

Here’s the trailer. Do you think it looks funny?
