Veazie, Brewer, Old Town Make List of Maine’s Safest Suburbs

The Bangor area is among the safest in the nation, at  so perhaps it's no surprise that some of its suburbs are the safest in Maine.

Wedged between Bangor and Orono along the Penobscot River is the the small town of Veazie, which is the fifth-safest suburb in Maine, according to a study released this week by Niche.com.

Veazie was the only Penobscot County town to crack the Top 10, but Brewer and Old Town did rank just below at No. 11 and No. 13, respectively. The list was based on instances of assaults, burglaries, and violent crimes.

Here are the 10 safest suburbs, according to Niche.com:
