Verso Paper Mill Sold To Scrap Metal Recycling Company [POLL]

It was announced this week that the Verso paper mill in Bucksport was being sold to American Iron & Metal, a Canadian company famous for recycling scrap metal.  The sale price was $60 million.

Union officials and local government leaders have expressed surprise that there was no effort to find a buyer that would re-start the mill, saving over 500 jobs.

Just about everyone's last day on the job will be December 17th.  Fifty to sixty jobs will continue at the mill's power plant.
