Put your gloves on, grab a rake and help out!

Saturday, April 21st, is Park Day, and the Friends of Fort Knox in Prospect need a little help sprucing the place up for opening day, which by the way is May 1st.

Helpers are asked to bring rakes, shovels, wheel barrels, leaf blowers, tarps and work gloves. Participants should plan on arriving at 10 a.m. and helping to around noontime. For more information about Park Day at Fort Knox, please call 469-6553 or email FOFK1@aol.com.

The historic Fort Knox is one of Maine's most visited State Parks and is located on the shore of the Penobscot River in Prospect.  Visitors can stroll the grounds of the Fort that was finished in 1844 in an effort to keep the British from advancing up the Penobscot River to Bangor.  The grounds feature a beautiful picnic area, and the Penobscot Narrows Bridge and Observatory.
