Check out one of nature's most unusual phenomenons - a reversing falls, right here in Downeast Maine!

Tidal Falls is located on the Taunton River between Sullivan and Hancock, and the high tide will force the flow of water to reverse against the prevailing current, creating a spectacle that has been enjoyed for generations.

Once again, thanks to the Downeast Cowboy, who posted this beautiful aerial footage!

Thanks to the efforts of the Frenchman Bay Conservancy and the Maine Department of Conservation, you can enjoy a fabulous picnic area on the Hancock side every season!  The little over 4 acres of land that overlooks Tidal Falls includes picnic tables and grills, and is open for day use free of charge.

The best time to observe the falls is a couple of hours either before or after low tide, according to the Conservancy's website.
