The North American Wife Carrying Championship took place this past Saturday in Newry, and couples gave it all for the grand prize of $, and of course beer!

Jake and Kirsten Barney of Lexington, Virginia, picked up the grand prize of twelve cases of beer and money equaling five times Kirsten's weight, $630. The very skilled and now very dirty couple will move along to the world championship in Finland.
