Watch The Maine Coast Guard Break Up Ice In The Penobscot [VIDEO]

I have lived in Maine most of my life and I have seen the aftermath of the Coast Guards efforts to prevent flooding and keep the river open for commercial water traffic.  I had never imagined what it would sound like.   It's loud, cold and seems like a fun job to do until your feet get cold. Thanks to the members of the Maine Coast Guard for keeping us safe and clear.  Or as they put it:  Comprised of nearly 42,000 extraordinary men and women, the Coast Guard is a unique branch of the military responsible for saving lives, protecting the environment, and defending America’s coastlines and waterways.
