The Wreaths Across America convoy made its way through Ellsworth and what an impressive sight it was!

The tradition started by the Worcester Wreath Company of Harrington in 1992 continued today as the convoy of many big 18 wheelers loaded with wreaths made it's way down High Street, then right onto Main, across the Union River Bridge, and then up Bridge Hill on it's way to Bucksport!

The convoy  was led by trucks from numerous fire departments across the state, including Sullivan, Hancock, Franklin and Ellsworth.  State Police where joined by vehicles from Gorham, Old Orchard Beach, Rockland, Westbrook and the Cumberland and Hancock County Sheriff's Departments!  First Lady Ann LePage waved as she was driven by.

Then came the big trucks that are transporting up to 230,000 wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery the famous burial ground outside of Washington D.C. Trucks from Oakhurst Dairy, Poland Spring, Wal-Mart, Food Lion, Pottle's Transportation and of course Worcester Wreath all made their way up Route 1.

At the tail of the convoy was the Patriot Guard Riders Motorcycle group, whom you had to give a lot of credit to with the below freezing temperatures.

The convoy should reach Arlington by this coming Saturday morning when thousands of volunteers will then lay the wreaths at the face of the many headstones.
