The State Fire Marshal's Office says two brothers from Waterville were arrested Tuesday and charged with arson for setting a car on fire in Madison four months ago.

Zachary Casey, 22, and Alexis Casey, 25, were taken into custody at their Hathaway Street home, according to a Wednesday press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Fire investigators said the two set fire to a car parked beside an apartment on Middle Street in the early morning hours of June 9.

The 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, owned by Sara Cookson, was destroyed.

Madison firefighters stopped the fire from spreading to the three-unit apartment house, where all of the occupants were asleep inside.

The two brothers smashed one of the car's windows and threw a Molotov cocktail inside, the release said.

Fire marshals, who investigated the blaze along with Somerset sheriff’s deputies, said the brothers held a grudge against Cookson's boyfriend.

The suspects were taken to the Somerset County Jail.
