Americans are now officially drinking more water than soda, it was a long time coming.  This comes for the first time in nearly three decades.

Back in the late 1990s, believe it or not, soda manufacturers ran bigger advertising campaigns than they do now.  So, those campaigns probably influenced the following numbers. In 1998, Americans were drinking an average of 54 gallons of soda per person per year, and just 42 gallons of water.

Now, new research shows us drinking an average of 58 gallons of water a year, and only 44 gallons of soda per year.

Why?  Well we exercise more, and water is now more readily available by the bottle.  It's also pretty cool to be seen with a bottle of water, it projects the aura that you're healthy.

So, drink up!
