With the unfortunate passing of Glen Frey, one of the founding members of the Eagles, we thought we'd ask I-95 listeners what their favorite Eagles albums are.

If you grew up in the seventies, then these albums probably provided the soundtrack of you life during that decade!  Starting out from the first notes of Take It Easy to The Sade Cafe, the final cut on The Long Run album, the Eagles were there for the majority of the decade!

Which albums meant the most to you?

    Eagles

The debut album released in June of 1972 may have been recorded in London, but the sound was all American.  Almost everyone can remember that time of their life when Take It Easy was a hit song.  It featured Frey on lead vocal and a lyric that will live on for rock eternity: "Well, I'm a standin' on a corner in Winslow, Arizona -Such a fine sight to see. It's a girl my Lord in a flat-bed Ford
Slowin' down to take a look at me."

The album also featured Witchy Woman and Peaceful Easy Feeling, another song that featured Glen Frey on lead vocal.

    Desperado

The second album by the Eagles was also recorded in London and then released in 1973.  But, once again, there was nothing British about it.  The album presented a old west concept and featured songs like Doolin - Dalton and the Don Henley sung classic; Desperado.

    On The Border

On The Border, their third album, was released in 1974, and it was the first to feature guitarist Don Felder.  The band had decided to produce a harder sound and it showed with songs like Already Gone and James Dean.  It's the album that meant the most to me personally, as I remember seeing them perform Already Gone at the California Jam, and Best Of My Love was playing in the background as I proposed to my future wife at Frazier's Point.

    One Of These Nights

Released in 1975 One Of These Nights quickly became the biggest selling album by the Eagles, probably because of the title track that became the band's second #1 hit song.  The album also featured Take It To The Limit and another song with Frey on the lead vocals, Lyin' Eyes. It was the last album to feature guitarist Bernie Leadon. Personally, it was my favorite album cover, just beautiful.

    Their Greatest Hits (1971 - 1975)

Well here it is, the number two biggest selling album of all time, right behind Michael Jackson's Thriller.  So far the 1976 album has sold over 29 million copies, and you can see why, with every song being a huge success!  It was an album for folks that loved the hits songs the most!

    Hotel California

The second album released in 1976 featured their biggest song ever in the title track, and probably the most mystifying when it came to the lyrics.  The album won the band two Grammy Awards for Hotel California and New Kid In Town, a song that featured Glen Frey on the lead vocals.  It was the last album for bassist Randy Meisner and the first for guitarist Joe Walsh.  Yes, the great Joe Walsh had joined the band, providing it with a guitar sound that was second to none.

    The Long Run

It was a three year time period between the Eagles last album and The Long Run which was released in 1979.  Timothy B. Schmidt was the new bass player and it's his vocals that you hear on the hit song I Can't Tell You Why.  Heartache Tonight and The Long Run also made it into the top ten.  The Joe Walsh song In The City was featured in the movie The Warriors.  It would be the last music that the Eagles would record in a studio, until they recorded four tracks for the Hell Freezes Over Album in 1994.

    Eagles Live

Rock and roll turmoil had set in as the band began to argue, and they would eventually disband in July of 1980.  The very first live album would be released a short time later in November of that year, and it featured all the big songs like Hotel California, Life In The Fast Lane, and the Joe Walsh classic; Life's Been Good. The members of the band would not communicate much, except through their lawyers and managers, for the next thirteen years.

    Hell Freezes Over

For many years Don Henley was asked when the band would get together again, and his standard answer was
"When Hell Freezes Over." Well after almost a 14 year hiatus it finally did, as the band was back together for an MTV special filmed in April of 1994. The album featured four new tracks, one called Get Over It, which was a rock and roll solution to the band's problems of the past.  The Timothy B. Schmidt song Love Will Keep Us Alive proved to be the album's only hit song.
