What's the most dangerous sport to play during a thunderstorm? The answer is not what you'd expect.

This week is lightning safety awareness week. The National Weather Service in Caribou is warning Mainers of the dangers associated with lightning strikes. According to data collected by the National Weather Service and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, soccer has contributed to more sports-related lightning fatalities.

Not as shocking, golf is the second most dangerous sport. It's definitely not a smart idea playing in an open field, swinging a mini-lightning rod around.
