It was thirty-six years ago tonight that Lennon was gunned down in front of the Dakota, the New York City apartment building that he and Yoko lived in.  Where were you when you heard the news?

It was one of those moments in time that one remembers where one was, especially if you were a big Beatles fan.

I was a college student and on the air on the then Husson College radio station, WHSN.  It was early at night and no one else was there when I heard the old Associated Press teletypes alarm go off.  I remember ripping the paper off the machine and reading the news with shock setting in at what I was seeing.  Then, people began to call.

This past October I visited the Dakota and also Strawberry Fields within New York's Central Park.  Those memories are still very much there. The music lives on.

Lennon was only forty years-old when he was gunned down, and one can only imagine  the music that he would have produced in the past thirty-six years.  One could only imagine what a  Beatles reunion may have looked like.
