Tenant screening site RentApplication.com has released data showing the cities in the U.S. with the most STDs. Thankfully no Maine city ranked near the top 10 for the most STDs but we are not completely clean.

The data is based on statistics from the CDC for 2013 (the most recent data available.) Statistics are shown per 100,000 people. Data reflects numbers for gonorrhea, syphilis and chlamydia. Herpes data is not collected.

According to the data, Augusta and Waterville are the cleanest cities in Maine. Augusta and Waterville reports 297 chlamydia cases, 10 gonorrhea cases and one case of syphilis.

South Portland alone is not too bad with 78 chlamydia cases, 2 gonorrhea cases and no syphilis. But when you include all of Portland the numbers make a huge jump! Both Portlands combined make over 790 cases of chlamydia, 64 gonorrhea cases and 5 cases of syphilis.

Bangor falls some where in the middle with 450 cases of chlamydia, 17 cases of gonorrhea, and no cases of syphilis.

The only area in the red on the map for Maine is Lewiston-Auburn with 503 cases of chlamydia, 91 cases of gonorrhea and 2 cases of syphilis.

The place with the most STD's per 100,000 people is Montgomery, Alabama with more than 1899 STDs. Cities with Armed Forces bases we more likely to rank high on the list including Norfolk, Va., Killeen, Texas, and Fayetteville, N.C.
