Since I was very young I was fortunate enough to have animals in my life. I had my first cat at 5 and my first dog at 12.  We lived in the country and there just weren't many kids where I lived, so pets became my  friends, companions and yes confidants. Funny things is I though that was odd and possibly unwise but new research has deemed me blissfully normal.

The new study shows that youngsters are more likely to confide in animals, such as cats and dogs, than their own brothers and sisters.  Researchers also found youngsters preferred to talk to pets about difficult issues because they felt they "would not be judged."

Today I tell my "tails" to a bunny and I feel blessed every day for her company.
