When it come to the best way to celebrate Columbus Day, why not slope side toting your wife in a way most unladylike for fun and prizes?

Registration is still open just check with her first. The deadline is October 7th. If you win you get your wife weight in beer and also in CASH. Cha ching!

According to the fine folks at Sunday River:

The legend behind the North American Wife Carrying Championship is based on 19th century Finnish legend "Ronkainen the Robber" who had high qualifications for the men he accepted into his band. To prove their worth, men had to compete through a difficult course with a heavy sack (or woman grabbed from neighboring villages) on their back.

But the fun does not stop there they will also be holding the 33rd Annual Blue Mountain Arts and Crafts Fair boasting regional artists and artisans exhibit paintings, fine jewelry, pottery, woodworking, photography, and more! Over 40 exhibitors will be located throughout the South Ridge Lodge.

There is also a music festival, Wine tent, pumpkin pie eating contest and premiere of the film 'Tight Loose'.

Then on Sunday add to all that the 3rd annual Corn Hole Championship, church services followed by a trip to the Bloody Mary tent and enjoying music from the Northside Ramblers and the Mallett Brothers and I believe you have a weekend well spent.
