The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Bangor area and much of Downeast Maine in anticipation of a storm expected to bring up to a foot of snow to areas along the coast.

The updated advisory remains in effect from 7 p.m Tuesday to 1 p.m. Wednesday. The storm is now expected to bring between 5-9 inches of snow to the Bangor area with up to a foot of snow along the coast.

The National Weather Service advises drivers to take caution on the roads as driving conditions will be difficult.

The city of Bangor has enacted a downtown parking ban from 11 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday. Police warn that vehicles left on city streets or in city parking lots during this period may be towed at the owner's expense.
