A woman who was arrested last night near the scene of a police-involved fatal shooting is facing drug charges, but it's unclear whether she was the woman led away in handcuffs.

The incident last night started when police pulled over a car near Leadbetter's Convenience Store on Outer Hammond Street. The driver ran from the vehicle into some nearby woods, and police gave chase. Witnesses say they heard at least 10 shots fired, and police have confirmed the suspect is deceased. However, there's no word, at this point, about the man's identity or whether he also had a weapon.

According to the BDN, police have declined to confirm whether 25-year-old Kayla Massicotte was the woman in the car with the suspect, but she was arrested near the scene of the incident last night. She's charged with possession of heroin, possession of a Schedule Z drug, and a bail violation.

The shooting has been turned over to the Attorney General's office, which is standard procedure in any officer-involved shooting.
