Two Lewiston women are accused of leaving a child unattended in a car while they allegedly robbed a convenience store.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the incident happened around 6:00 Sunday evening at the 7B Corner Store on Elm Street in Biddeford. Police say Kaylee Bernier and Monica Durgin, both 23-years-old, left a 6-year-old child alone in a car while they were inside the store, allegedly robbing the clerk at gunpoint.

Both women are charged with robbery and endangering the welfare of a child. Bernier is also charged with criminal threatening. Bail was not allowed for either woman and they were taken to York County Jail.

The Department of Health and Human Services placed the child in the custody of a relative in Lewiston.
