If you were traveling from out of state and wanted to experience Maine at its finest, what one event should you not miss?

According to Yahoo Travel, that would be the Maine Lobster Festival in Rockland!

Yahoo Travel says, "check this: 20,000 pounds of lobster are served up at the MLF, which also features a parade, an international crate race, cooking contests, and, of course, the crowning of the coveted “sea goddess.”

As we're well aware, the yearly event that's set at Harbor Park in Rockland usually draws thousands upon thousands of tourists and Maine residents alike!  The Festival, held the last few days of July into August,  was also been voted one of the Top Ten U.S. Summer Food Festivals of 2014!

By the way, other events that Yahoo Travel lists include the Testicle Festival in Montana where folks dine on, well, Rocky Mountain Oysters to put it politely. There's also The Tupelo Elvis Festival in  Mississippi and the Magnum Rattlesnake Derby in Oklahoma.

Can you think of another Maine event other than Rockland's Lobster Festival that better epitomizes our state?
