Yahoo Travel has listed " A State By State Guide To The 50 Coolest Things In America."  What do you think Maine's "coolest thing" is?Is it the pier at Old Orchard Beach, partying in The Old Port, something within Acadia National Park?  Nope.

Yahoo Travel says, "The world’s largest rotating globe can be found in an appropriate place: the headquarters of famed mapmakers DeLorme in Yarmouth. It even has a cool name: Eartha."

Eartha The Globe has a circumference of 42 feet!  The globe took two years to build and "represents earth as seen from outer space."  According to the DeLorme website,Eartha is " 3-dimensional scale model of our earth with mountains and landforms in full 3D, that rotates and revolves, simulating the earth’s real movements."  Eartha is titled at  23.5 degrees, the same as Earth.

Eartha is available for viewing Monday through Saturday between 9 a.m.and 6 p.m. To get to DeLorme in Yarmouth take the Interstate I-95 to I-295 and then take Exit 17, take a right at the ramp, DeLorme is the immediate right at the end of the ramp. There is no charge for admission.  For more information call 1-800-642-0970.

Eartha is pretty cool!!  Can you think of anything in Maine that's cooler?
