Yesterday’s Video Footage Of Right Whales – Protected Maine Species [VIDEO]

Check out this beautiful footage shot by a Boston area TV station yesterday afternoon as Right Whales visited that area!

Back in the 16th and 17th centuries these beautiful creatures were slaughtered for their oil.  As a matter of fact, that is how they got the name Right Whale, because they unfortunately where the right whale to kill.

There are now an estimated 500 Right Whales in the North Atlantic!

Right Whales are an endangered specie that are protected throughout the entire Gulf of Maine! These days before any wind farms or dredging permits are issued, the Right Whales "critical habitat" is taken into consideration.

For the animal's safety, boaters and fisherman are also urged to use extreme caution when encountering Right Whales in the open water.
