Don't forget to look up tonight!

I remember seeing the Northern Lights a few years ago while visiting my camp way up in Northern Maine. It was a lucky sight as the Aurora Borealis rarely stretches that far south. It's a heck of a display! Federal space weather forecaster Joe Kunches says we might get treated to the beauty early tonight!

Kunches says the sun shot out a powerful solar flair that should reach Earth this evening. The flair will shake up the Earth's magnetic fields, extending the Northern Lights further south. Depending on the weather conditions, folks from Maine to as far south as Colorado should see the Aurora Borealis low on the horizon

The solar storm has already diverted flights near the poles as GPS systems will likely be disrupted by the changing magnetic fields.
