I always wonder who it is that funds research on the painfully obvious like the revelation that women cry more than men, Yeah, I knew that.

However as the oldest stereotypes goes it is sort of interesting that researchers says women well up between 30 and 64 times a year, while men shed a tear between six and 17 times per year. Seems about right, especially since the invention of YouTube and all the sappy stuff you can find there.

Add to that, when women cry, it is also for longer than men. Women’s tears last for six minutes on average, while for men, they last for between two and three minutes.

This was a bit of a surprise though, in the realm of movie crying, according to Esquire magazine, not only do guys cry but the films that turn on the water works include The Shawshank Redemption, Saving Private Ryan and surprisingly Toy Story 3 and Babe, a comedy drama about a talking pig. Go figure.

To your credit 'Babe' was nominated for best picture, tough guy.
