The Boston Celtics are coming north to Portland and the newly renovated Cross Insurance Arena tonight. The opposition will be the Toronto Raptors.

It's the first Celtics preseason game in Maine since 1995 when they took on the Cleveland Cavs in Portland. M.L. Carr was in his first year as Celtics coach that year. Dino Radja (remember him?) was the C's leading scorer that year.

This time young Brad Stevens will coach this young Celtics team.

Basketball fans in Maine will see the C's #1 pick Marcus Smart, plus last year's top picks Kelly Olynyk and Jarred Sullinger. Newly acquired Evan Turner will play. Rajon Rondo has the finger injury and will not play.

The Celtics formed a partnership with Portland back in 2009 with the Maine Red Claws and the C's now run that NBA Development League team.

The Celtics are 2-2 in the preseason. The season opener is two weeks from tonight, October 29th.
