It's time for kids and young adults to get out into the sunshine and enjoy the fresh air!

Last night, Bangor City Councilor Ben Sprague tweeted the good news that all City parks, playgrounds and basketball courts will reopen, attributing the decision to the low number of active COVID-19 cases in the area.

The news comes following the City of Brewer's decision to do the same.  Brewer opened all playgrounds for use yesterday, the 16th.

Bangor city workers will sanitize the playground equipment in all areas on a regular basis, and officials remind those using them to wash their hands, and keep social distancing in mind by trying to remain at least six feet apart at all times.

With beautiful summer-like weather predicted for the remainder of this week, including this weekend, expect places like the playground at Broadway, Hayford Park, Fairmount Park, Chapin Park and Bangor Gardens to be well used.

Officials will keep an eye on the situation and monitor COVID-19 numbers in the area, and they will reassess the situation if it becomes necessary.  But in the meantime, kids finally have something else to do in Bangor, and Brewer too for that matter.

Stay safe and have fun, everyone!
