Without naming names I am going to tell you that I personally have known 4 families  including my own that have been devastated this year different degrees by opiates.  These traumas run the gamut of theft to death. And if you think the only victim is the addicted person you are so very wrong...

Growing up in the 70's if there was a kid in my High School who hadn't at least tried pot I'd be amazed.  Problem is the idea now is that "so what's the big deal' thinking for today's youth.  What we need to factor into our opinion of the safety or use of today's version of pot is that the effect is not the same.

A new effort is underway in Ellsworth to help Mainers struggling with addiction.

In a new study done by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) revealed changing attitudes nationwide towards marijuana usage, and the amount of people who use pot more than once a month.

A shocking new poll reveals that 6 in 10 Mainers say that they know someone who has either used heroin or abused prescribed opiate painkillers within the past five years. I on the other hand right here in the Bangor area I know 4 people within my group of friends affected by opiates including three that have had that person pass away.

Two competing groups, the national Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol  and Maine's own Legalize Maine, will now join forces in their quest to collect enough signatures to get the legalization question on the November 2016 ballot.
