Hancock County recorded its first confirmed case of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to state officials.

Hancock County becomes the thirteenth Maine county to record a case, with only Aroostook, Piscataquis and Washington counties reporting zero current cases.

The case was recorded at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital, according to the Ellsworth American.

Later on Wednesday, MDI Hospital announced its second confirmed positive case to date is a resident of Hancock County who was tested at the hospital’s central outpatient access point outside of the Cooper Gilmore Health Center. The patient is now isolated at home in accordance with CDC guidelines, the hospital states.

Last month, state health officials originally reported a case in Hancock County, but it was later determined the person was tested in Hancock County but lived in Penobscot County.
