After having several winters where we really did not get much snow, the northeast has been slammed by repeated storms this winter.

Now, these storms have yet to be massive ones.  Usually, they have accumulations of between 3" and 6".  However, the fact that we are getting them back-to-back-to-back has led to us seeing a significant amount of snow on the ground.

The latest winter storm to have an impact on New England will be Iliana.

According to the National Weather Service, the winter weather is expected to roll into Maine late Wednesday night.  In the Portland area, you can expect snow at first, but that will change over to rain/freezing rain in the morning.  Total accumulations for the storm will be between 2" and 4".  Strong winds with up to 30 MPH gusts will also lead to difficult conditions on the road.

Central Maine will be under a Winter Weather Advisory from midnight through 3 PM on Thursday.  Just like with Southern Maine, the precipitation will start as snow but change over to rain/freezing rain/sleet.

Parts of Northern Maine will be under a Winter Storm Warning (not a Winter Weather Advisory).  People in those areas can expect to get up to 7" of snow.  Additionally, the area will also have gusty winds.

Fortunately, by early Friday morning, the storm should have exited the state.  You'll have just enough time to clean things up before the next storm rolls into Maine on Saturday night.  Get the latest on that store from WGME.
